Protecting and restoring wild places
This summer, why not avoid the tourist trail and volunteer in some of Scotland’s most beautiful wild places? Our volunteer conservation days are a great opportunity to meet other Trust volunteers, as well as learn about and contribute to our peatland and native woodland restoration projects. Book a volunteer conservation day at Nevis or at Strathaird on Skye.
Together we've raised £50,000! Our Glenlude Appeal has reached its target thanks to everyone who generously contributed. Find out more about our project to transform this former sheep farm and conifer plantation into a thriving mosaic of native woodland, peatland, upland habitats and a safe place for people to build a deeper connection with nature. Advocating for wild places
This month, take a virtual trip to Assynt and explore Quinag with Head of Wild Places Index Matt Coathup as he visits one of his favourite wild places where: "...the only sounds are the gush of water, the rhythmic hum of insects and the piercing cry of a golden eagle as it flies overhead."

Wild Places champions: Our relaunched John Muir Award has contributed over 214,000 hours to discovering, exploring and caring for wild places across the UK. Together they've planted 5,196 native trees, removed the equivalent of almost three football pitches of invasive species in 74,695 hours of practical conservation work. Read more.
