Glenlude is being transformed from a former sheep farm and conifer plantation into a thriving mosaic of native woodland, peatland and upland habitats. It is becoming a place where wildlife thrives, and people experience a wild place through hands-on conservation.
This transformation is only possible thanks to supporters like you. By donating to our Glenlude Appeal, you can help even more volunteers, schools and community groups take part in caring for this special place.
We are raising £50,000 to build a new Gathering Shelter and improve accessible paths, enabling more people to take part in restoring Glenlude. Every donation will help support the next stage of nature recovery at our award-winning conservation hub. Thank you to everyone who has already donated and contributed to raising over £20,000.
- Help build our new accessible Gathering Shelter, creating a welcoming base for volunteers, schools and community groups.
- Upgrade paths to enable people of all abilities to take part in conservation work. - Plant and care for native woodland trees as Glenlude’s woods expand. - Support wildlife surveys tracking birds, butterflies and other returning species. - Equip volunteers with tools and materials for a day restoring habitats.
Every donation brings us closer to reaching our £50,000 goal and opening Glenlude to even more people.
Nature guides every decision at Glenlude. Where ancient woodland plants remain, native trees are encouraged to regenerate. Slowly, the landscape is returning to life.
But Glenlude is about more than habitat restoration. It is a place where people from all walks of life are helping to care for this special wild place, gaining skills, confidence and wellbeing through practical conservation.
Our vision is to create an accessible wild place volunteering and learning hub – you can help us open Glenlude to many more volunteers and community groups.
Working outdoors and contributing to nature recovery helps people build confidence, skills and connection through practical conservation.
Every volunteer day contributes directly to restoration by planting trees, surveying wildlife, maintaining paths and caring for young woodland.
This potent combination of conservation and wellbeing was recognised in 2025, when Glenlude and our partners Phoenix Futures received a Nature of Scotland Health and Wellbeing Award.
“Your donation will help open Glenlude to more groups of conservation volunteers. By improving paths around the volunteer hub, building a Gathering Shelter and creating accessible routes around the tree nursery, we can enable many more people to take part in restoring this landscape. Together we can create a place where people and nature thrive — now and in the future.”
